What is the ACL?

The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of the important and strong ligaments in the knee joint. It helps control the stability of our knee during movements in two planes antero-posterior (front-to-back) and rotatory (pivoting). The stability of knee not only makes knee comfortable but also protect the vital structures of knee. ACL connects the bottom of the thighbone (femur) to the top of the shinbone (tibia).
